Hello hello and welcome to the Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) appreciation community! A few starter rules, abouts, codas, etc.
1. This is, as you have probably gathered, a community for fannish love for the original FMA series. That means that Brotherhood and manga content should go elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I love Ling and Father and Mei Chang just fine, but that's not what this community is for.
2. in the vein of rule one... if you're literally here to tell us how Brotherhood is better, DOOOOON'T. We have HEARD IT. Similarly, if you're offended by people here complaining about Brotherhood, you have probably missed the context of years of people bashing on our canon. I will draw a line at anything getting into the territory of straight-up bashing, but seriously, we're gonna vent about Brotherhood/the manga and its stans.
3. NSFW content goes under a cut with warnings, please, as well as other common triggers such as hyperviolence/gore, character death (in a fic/art; discussion is fine), sexual assault discussion, and anything depicting war and/or the Ishvalan or Lioran genocides. The warnings don't have to be detailed or perfect - just let people know what they're clicking on!
4. Self-promo your little hearts out! Just don't forget to interact with other people too.
5. All meta, headcanons, interpretations etc. are subjective. Yes, even if you have proof. I'm a sucker for well-supported meta, but that doesn't magically make it canon.
6. No ship-bashing. ....seriously, if you're in this canon for purity, you might be lost. Certain ships I may ask folks to default to putting under cuts.*
7. I want to be a light-touch mod on this comm, but one of the things I will step in over is racism. It's a hot-button in this fandom, especially since our canon deals with it so much. Respectful discussions are alright, but if I see anybody start to discredit, talk over or otherwise disregard somebody's personal experiences or relationship to racism as a way to make a point, I'll be giving a warning and shutting down the conversation. POC are treated like crap in most fandom spaces as it is, but given that this is one of the few canons where our experiences with genocide are even respected, I have even less patience for it being ignored.
[A little more on ships. I understand and respect where people are coming from on the ship angle, especially re: things like RoyEd. Me, I'm an Edvy and other crackship/rarepair shipper - but I don't see any reason to particularly censor RoyEd here, mostly because I find that very few shippers actually write Ed as a teenager while doing it. Like I said, if certain other ships start coming up in distressing amounts, I'll ask folks to start putting them under cuts, but that's the most I'll ever ask.]

Watch Club!
Hello hello! I kind of forgot about this comm and neglected Dreamwidth for a while - but now I'm gonna take it a little more seriously and get things kicking with a WATCH PARTY! A lot of people haven't seen FMA 2003 for years - even more people never finished it, or have heard of it but never watched it. And besides, we're still all kind of in hell.
Rules for the Watch Party:
1. I'll be setting up a Netflix Party at 2 pm EST every Friday for the episode, as well as making the official Watch Party post. You're welcome to either join the party if you have a Netflix account with access to the 03 series, or watch on your own time! Either way, the post is for discussion of that episode and any episodes prior. /No spoilers for future eps./ For some people it's a first time watch!
2. Behave. Some NSFW jokes are fine but no porning it up.
3. Don't be racist.
That's all! The first FMA 2003 Watch Party for Episode 1: Those Who Challenge the Sun will be THIS FRIDAY, August 14th, at 2 pm EST!
